Terms
The service
AppLedger, made by Contenta Software, checks apps for security problems with independent scanners, explains the findings in plain language, and estimates the AI effort behind an app. During the pilot the service is free.
Using it
- Only check code you're allowed to share with us, such as code you wrote or code your employer lets you use this way.
- Don't try to overload, break or get around the service's limits, and don't upload malware or content that's illegal to share.
- We may limit or block use that puts the service or other users at risk.
Accounts
- Give a real name and an email address you control. Keep your password and connection keys to yourself; anything done with them counts as done by your account.
- The person who creates an organisation's account manages it. Results linked to it are visible to that organisation.
- You can ask us to close your account at any time, and we'll delete its data.
Your code stays yours
You keep all rights to your code. You allow us to process it only to run the check you asked for; we delete it right after. How we handle data is described in the privacy page.
What the check can and can't do
Scanners find many common problems, but not all of them. A clean result doesn't mean an app is secure, and a finding isn't always a real risk. Use the results to help decide, not as a guarantee, and have important apps reviewed by someone qualified.
No warranty
The pilot service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. It may change, pause or stop. To the extent the law allows, Contenta Software isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from relying on a check result.
Open-source parts
The AppLedger plugin and Python package are published under the MIT licence at github.com/contentasoftware/appledger. That licence covers them; these terms cover the hosted service.
